This morning Rain and I got up.....

...and got ourselves ready to head over and check out her new school.  We got a good tour and met everyone in her classroom.  Everyone one is excited because she's a girl.  All the other students are BOYS + an EA & for half the day a male teacher too, thankfully Rain with have a female teacher the other half of the day and there is a female EA as well....the girls were feeling out numbered!  LOL.  It seems like a great school, everyone is happy that Rain will be joining them and more important Rain likes the school too.  RF Downey has a breakfest program every morning, hot pizza every friday and Milk is ordered daily!  I'm excited for her TOMORROW is her first real day as a Peterborough student!!

I thought that today would be the day...

that someone called to say Rain starts school monday....guess not....as its a PA day, which also mean that I can't get ahold of anyone at school either.  I'm feeling pretty stressed out over all this!  An old time friend from public school days talked with me about this last night, she has given me some ideas to follow up on and if I can reach anyone on the trustee board today....I will!  You know who you are my friend and I thank you for your concern and help!

The plan is to add a few different post a day about the new things I'm trying in my life.

So last night I took my daughter out for supper.  I got the idea to google restaurants in the area.  I clicked on Peterborough Restaurants: Guide to the Best Restaurants & Reviews ... which took me to a site called Restaurantica.  From there I decided I'd like to have fish so on the right hand side of the page you can choose what your looking to eat.  I was directed to http://www.restaurantica.com/f/on/peterborough/fish/ and  Nicholls Oval Restaurant jumped out at me because it was close by and I'd wondered about it.  Here was the blog I read:

"Best Fish and Chips in Town"
This place has the best fish and chips in all of Peterborough! I had a 2 piece halibut dinner and it was SO GOOD. They batter the fish themselves so its not super thick, and they cut the fries themselves too. My friend had the chicken fingers, and they were homemade too. They'll even serve you breakfast in the middle of dinner for an extra dollar, which is totally fine because their breakfast prices are already so cheap! My boyfriend got the breakfast special and the home fries were grilled, not deep-fried. I've been there a few times now and the place gets really busy on the weekend. Its probably best to go during the week days, so that the service is that much more awesome. Still, our servers have always been very friendly and attentive.

  • Order: 2 piece halibut dinner, chicken fingers with Caesar salad and fries, breakfast special

  • Overall: 4.0 stars Food 4.0 stars Services 5.0 stars Atmosphere 4.0 stars Price Range (per person): $11-$25 Visit Again?: Yes Party Size: 4

I ordered the 2 piece halibut dinner myself which comes with fires & Caesar salad, my daughter had the kids cheeseburger and fries (which was ate completely - a good sign).  I would agree that the fish & chips is amazing and would say that their food is a 4.0, Services I'd drop to a 4.0 although I was told by the waitress that she was on a 12 hour shift and very tired I felt that she was far from a attentive until we were leaving.  Atmosphere close to closing is closer to that of a 3.0 as a couple of people left without ordering due to the waitresses welcome which left the customers feeling like they wouldn't have enough time to eat.  I also noticed that they had a spider problem as two walked across our table during the meal.  Honestly not sure if I'd return to eat there, but I might order to go sometime.

I've now lived in Peterborough for over a month ...

... and thought that the best way to keep everyone up to date with whats going on in our life would be to blog it.  The idea of blogging came from a book I've just finished reading named "Abandoned" by Anya Peters.

A very inspirational non-fictional novel if ever there was one!  Anya has a blog of her own at http://wanderingscrible.blogspot.com/ where you can see what her novel looks like and keep up with what is happening in her life now.  I highly recommend this novel to anyone.
